Mr. Julio is originally from the village of Congolón, a community steeped in deep cultural richness, recognized as a place of strong indigenous roots in the history of Honduras. In this area, families have traditionally dedicated themselves to growing corn and beans, practices passed down from generation to generation.
Approximately 25 years ago, coffee began to be introduced in the region as a new productive alternative. Julio and his older children, seeking to improve their family income, began working as day laborers on nearby coffee farms. Over the years, this experience allowed him to acquire valuable knowledge about coffee plantation management, from cultivation to harvest. It was precisely during this process that his dream was born: to own his own farm.
With effort, sacrifice, and great discipline, he managed to save enough to purchase a beautiful property where, seven years ago, he began his personal project: growing coffee. Supported by the guidance of some experienced neighbors, Julio put into practice everything he had learned and planted two hectares of the Catuaí variety, with the vision of offering quality coffee and ensuring a better future for his family.
It was two years ago that we met Don Julio, thanks to a mutual friend, during a visit to San Andrés, Lempira, as we sought out new talent and specialty coffees. Since then, he has shown a great willingness to learn and improve, and 2025 marks his first year preparing a micro-lot of specialty coffee with great enthusiasm and dedication.
His goal is clear: to achieve economic sustainability through coffee and leave a legacy for his children. Don Julio's story is an example of how dreams are cultivated through hard work, perseverance, and hope.
