Lot 13: El Rubí Jeniffer Iveth Madrid Chavez
My name is Jeniffer Madrid and I am the owner of Finca El
Rubí, located in the village of El Coquillal, San Luis
Planes, Santa Bárbara, at an altitude of 1,400 m asl.
On our farm, we grow the Parainema variety and focus on a
carefully controlled
harvesting process. We select only the fruits at their peak
ripeness, aiming to maximize
the unique attributes each coffee bean offers.
For me, coffee represents much more than just a crop: it
symbolizes family unity, love for our roots and the culture of my
community. Since I was a little kid I have been surrounded by the
coffee process, observing the work of my family of which I’m
part of the 4th
generation. It was not until 2019 when I decided to embark on my
own path in the world
of coffee, thanks to the unconditional support of my grandfather,
who inherited me the
land where the farm is planted today.
One of the biggest challenges was taking on the administration of
the farm while being a young woman and still a university student.
It wasn’t easy, but with the help of God, the support of my
family and the commitment of the team that worked on the farm while
I was studying, I managed to finish my degree and later dedicate
myself fully to the harvest and production of coffee.
My family and I have participated on several occasions in Cup of
Excellence program,
obtaining important recognitions including 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th
place, the latter achieved
by me in 2021. This platform has been key to our growth in the
sector, allowing us to
position our specialty coffees in the international market.
