Sítio Córrego Frio is located in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, in the municipality of Cristina, southern Minas Gerais, at an altitude between 1,400 and 1,450 meters. The region’s mountainous terrain and subtropical highland climate provide ideal conditions for producing specialty coffees.
The property is managed by the second generation of the family, who inherited it in 2017. The owner is constantly focused on improving the quality of the coffee produced, cultivating the Yellow Bourbon variety over an area of 1.5 hectares, with 1 hectare dedicated to coffee production. To ensure quality, the crops are managed under the guidance of an agronomist from COCARIVE, who oversees every stage of production — from field practices to post-harvest processing.
The property is run by Ronaldo and his wife, Luziane, under a family farming system. Their son Renan takes part in every stage of coffee production, including fertilization, weeding, harvesting, and drying, while their eldest daughter, Aline, helps with the drying process. The family is committed to sustainable production, always respecting the springs and forest areas within the property.
Harvesting begins when the cherries reach full ripeness. The coffee is hand-picked on cloths to prevent any contact with the soil. Each day, the beans are washed to separate the cherries, then pulped and taken to the patio for drying. The coffee is spread in thin layers and turned 12 to 15 times a day until it reaches 11% moisture content. Once dried, the lots are separated and stored in wooden bins to rest before being prepared and transported to COCARIVE’s warehouse.
The selected beans are evaluated by COCARIVE specialists to ensure the delivery of high-quality lots to the market. This particular lot yielded 3.5 bags of processed coffee.
