Lot 10: Rancho el Separo Senén Sampieri Bulbarella
This Honey lot was harvested in early March with one goal in mind: exceptional quality from tree to cup. We paid higher wages to our pickers to ensure only the ripest cherries were selected directly from the branches. Our farms follow a tailored nutrition plan aligned with the YARA program, designed to support the health and productivity of each coffee plant.
After harvest, the cherries were floated in clean water to remove any imperfections, selecting only the densest, healthiest fruit. As a Honey process, the coffee was depulped and left to ferment in its natural mucilage, then carefully sun-dried on a patio, preserving the complexity and sweetness in the cup. Once dried, the parchment coffee was stored in a dedicated warehouse that maintains ideal conditions for quality preservation.
Rancho El Separo is a family-run farm deeply rooted in tradition and built with love and intention. Located in Ohuapan, at 1,400 meters above sea level in the municipality of Tlaltetela, Veracruz, this land was named El Separo by Senén’s grandfather, the first in our family to plant coffee here. His son, Zenén, continued the work, and today we—Senén and Monika—represent the third generation caring for each coffee tree with respect and passion.
In 2021, we took a leap into the world of specialty coffee, driven by a desire to innovate, experiment, and give deeper meaning to our family’s legacy. Since then, we've been developing processes that allow us to explore new dimensions of flavor and expression in each cup. Along the way, we’ve received encouraging recognition in several competitions, including the 2024 Cup of Excellence.
But what truly defines us is not just the coffee—it’s the heart behind it. Our work is fueled by love: love for the land, for our family, and now, for our new baby, who has become the symbol of the next generation. With her arrival, this project has taken on even greater meaning. She represents our hope, our future, and the continuation of everything we are building today.
We are committed to agroecological practices that respect and protect our environment. Our coffees grow under natural shade from native trees, and we avoid herbicides, nurturing the biodiversity around us. This is not just a business—it’s a way of life we hope to pass on.
Today, Rancho El Separo is supported by a growing team of people who share our values. Together, we are creating something lasting, rooted in legacy and looking toward the future. We warmly invite you to share in this journey and discover the care, craft, and story behind every cup.
