Finca Mileydi, besides producing excellent coffee, is a legacy that I speak of with great pride. It is located in the hamlet of La Montañita, El Túnel canton, La Palma.
It all began when I met my husband, Ever Leonel Díaz, from La Montañita. He was already a coffee farmer, and together we cultivated Finca Mileydi. I already knew a little about coffee, but with Ever, I learned much more. Together, we looked for new opportunities to market our coffee at better prices.
It was not easy. There were times when we did not even have enough money to buy sugar. We went through difficult moments, but we kept moving forward. In the beginning, we had to transport the coffee on horseback and pulp it by hand. However, we always worked with great love, believing that every effort would eventually be rewarded.
We started participating in the Cup of Excellence competition, achieving different placements until we finally won first place in 2021.
Sadly, a year after that achievement, Ever passed away due to cancer. It was a painful and heartbreaking experience, leaving me with our three children and Finca Mileydi, which has always been my strength and my pride.
I have experienced both joyful and difficult times. My story is a sad one in many ways, but I have managed to move forward.
Seeing the coffee crop grow brings me happiness, although it is not easy. There are days of hard work, and I do most of it myself, with the support of my children and family during the harvest season.
I provide employment opportunities for both women and men. I thank God for never leaving me alone and for giving me the strength to remain dedicated to coffee production.
My goal is to offer high-quality coffee, cultivated with great care and love for everyone who enjoys it.
All of that effort was rewarded when I won first place again in 2023.
