Finca Ocoxotla carries with it the legacy of generations. It all began with the grandfather of Mr. Gustavo Tapia, when the land was originally used as a cattle ranch. For decades, the land served livestock, but in 2020, a bold decision transformed its destiny. That year marked the beginning of a new chapter—one focused on cultivating specialty coffee.

Perched in the highlands of a lush cloud forest, the farm sits between 1,520 and 2,590 meters above sea level. This unique location provides ideal growing conditions for high-quality coffee. Towering oak, chicalaba, and encino trees offer natural shade, while a river that flows alongside the farm nourishes the soil and sustains the plants throughout the year.

The farm specializes in Marsellesa and Anacafé 14 varieties—selected for their resilience and remarkable cup profiles. From the beginning, the focus has been on organic and sustainable farming practices. Organic composting is carried out with great care, and harvesting is done selectively, only when cherries have reached peak ripeness. The coffee is then hand-sorted and stored in jute sacks in a temperature-stable warehouse, preserving its freshness and quality.

Although this is Finca Ocoxotla’s first participation in Mexico’s Cup of Excellence, the team is proud and excited to share the fruits of their hard work with the world. It is more than just coffee—it is a testament to tradition, resilience, and innovation.

This journey began over 30 years ago, when my mother started cultivating traditional coffee in El Ocote. Back then, the results were modest. But nearly five years ago, I decided—with my children—to take a leap into the world of specialty coffee. We moved our cultivation to higher altitudes, planted new varieties, and committed ourselves to clean, organic practices.

Today, Finca Ocoxotla is more than a farm—it’s a family project, a dream in motion, and a symbol of how the love for the land, when passed from one generation to the next, can produce something truly exceptional.

We invite you to taste our coffee—not just for its flavor, but for the story it carries in every cup.
