Oscar Daniel Ramírez Valerio (Finca El Laurel)
At 55, with three decades of experience, Oscar Ramírez
still remembers the day in 2004 when he bought six pounds of seed
from IHCAFE to plant on what was once just a pasture. His journey
was not easy, but his perseverance led to a crowning achievement:
1st place in the 2017 national competition, which opened the doors
to international markets in Korea, Japan, and England.
Today, he celebrates a prestigious 6th place finish. Oscar’s
motivation is the independence he has gained by bypassing
intermediaries, allowing him to reinvest in his property and pay
his harvesters fairly. He is a champion of selective picking and
eco-friendly processing. With his eyes on the future, Oscar is
ready to innovate further, planning to install his own cupping lab
and, most importantly, to fully support his family as they grow
alongside him.
