CAMINO VIEJO
ELMER EUGENIO DIAZ AGUILAR
29
I am Elmer Eugenio Díaz Aguilar, coffee producer and
president of the Rutas del Inca Agrarian Cooperative. From my farm
Camino Viejo, located at 2,085 m a.s.l. in the rural community of
Pariamarca, I passionately cultivate the Geisha variety in a
healthy environment free from deforestation.
The name Camino Viejo (“Old Path”) comes from the fact
that an old bridle path used to run through this place, connecting
Pariamarca and Paric, recalling the saying: “The old road
never fails to pay off.”
I inherited this coffee-growing tradition from my parents, and
today I continue cultivating with dedication and hope, seeking to
improve my family’s quality of life and contribute to the
development of my community. Through teamwork and perseverance, I
am honored to represent my cooperative in such an important event
for Peru’s specialty coffees
