TINTIN
FORTUNATO ARENAS ANAMPA
1
TinTin Farm is located in the community of San Fernando, district
of Inkawasi, province of La Convención, Cusco region. To
reach our farm, one must travel approximately 8 hours from the city
of Quillabamba. Inkawasi is known for its diverse microclimates,
which enhance the quality of the specialty coffees produced in the
area.
My plot is at an altitude of 2,100 m a.s.l, and its agronomic
management is entirely organic and environmentally friendly,
ensuring sustainable production that provides economic support for
my family and future generations. The farm was established in 2017
and covers 1 hectare. As the son of a coffee grower and inspired by
my father’s example, I am dedicated to cultivating coffee,
hard work that brings great satisfaction when we see the quality
results.
The harvest begins in July with the first cherries, and the
largest volume is obtained between July, August, and September. In
Inkawasi, we practice ayni during the harvest, a community-based
system in which all coffee growers are trained to carry out
selective harvest, an activity that requires great care because it
directly affects coffee quality.
However, this year we faced a delay in coffee ripeness due to
drastic climate change, which also impacted on the drying process
of the beans.
