Lot 1B_: Finca Santa Cruz Cruz José Argüello Miceli
Nestled in the Sierra de Cuxtepeques within the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, Finca Santa Cruz is more than a farm—it’s a story of resilience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Originally founded in 1956 by the López Aguilar family from Oaxaca, the farm entered a new chapter in 2013 when it was acquired by our family, the Argüello.
We were drawn not only to the region’s rich volcanic soil and ideal microclimate but also to the farm’s potential to become a benchmark for quality and innovation in Mexican coffee. When we took over, the land had been neglected for several years. We made the bold decision to start from scratch, replanting coffee varieties meticulously selected for their adaptability to this unique terroir.
In 2019, we debuted in the Taza de Excelencia México and have since consistently ranked among the top three producers. That achievement marked a turning point for us. For my wife, Leticia Enríquez, our children Karina and Pepe Argüello, and myself, it validated our belief in doing things differently, experimenting with post-harvest processes, investing in quality, and always pushing for better.
Together with a dedicated team of workers and partner producers, we’ve made Finca Santa Cruz a name associated with high-quality, process-driven coffees. Our customers seek us out for our distinct flavor profiles, knowing that every batch is backed by rigorous quality control and a deep respect for our craft.
Chiapas is in every cup we produce. Finca Santa Cruz is not just where we grow coffee, it’s our home. That’s why sustainability and environmental stewardship are at the core of everything we do. We’re constantly exploring new ways to innovate, reduce our impact, and uplift our surrounding community.
We’ve also had the immense joy of watching our children grow into the next generation of producers and entrepreneurs, right here, under the canopy of our shade-grown coffee trees. Their passion assures us that the legacy of Finca Santa Cruz will endure, fueled by love for the land and for the extraordinary coffee it yields.
