In the high mountains of San Rafael del Norte—where a
rainy climate, high altitude, and optimal temperatures create
unique conditions for coffee—my family’s work comes to
life at Finca Renacer. I am Warner de Jesús Úbeda
Zeledón, and my story began in 2002 with a small plot of two
manzanas (around 3.5 acres). Through hard work, dedication, and a
passion for this industry, I expanded my coffee-growing areas and
invested in specialty varieties such as Maragogype, the very one I
am participating with today in the Cup of Excellence. Every step
has been driven by the conviction that our mountains possess the
potential to produce extraordinary coffees.
My motivation to compete stems from the high potential my coffee
has demonstrated through previous cupping scores, as well as the
unique characteristics provided by our microclimate, elevation, and
the cultivated variety. This lot was meticulously prepared, from
the selection of ripe cherries to a precise fermentation, washing,
and drying process. Every detail matters: harvesting only ripe
cherries, timely pulping, and a rigorous sorting of imperfections
allow us to preserve the excellent organoleptic qualities that
distinguish our coffee. The result is a clean, complex, and
authentic cup, crafted with utmost care from harvesting to
drying.
For me, this recognition represents much more than a competition;
it is an opportunity to bring our coffee to the international
market and connect with buyers who value quality and the labor
behind every bean. It also means new opportunities for my family
and the community, generating jobs and strengthening sustainable
coffee farming in our region. This is an achievement built together
as a family, with pride and commitment, because we believe that
Nicaraguan coffee deserves to be globally recognized for its
exceptional quality. My coffee can be summarized in a simple yet
true phrase: "Hard work, effort, quality, and reward.
