At 46 years old, Juan de Dios Medina is a passionate producer who literally grew up surrounded by coffee. After years of learning by his father's side, he took the bold step of becoming independent in 2003 to forge his own destiny in coffee farming. The true turning point in his life came when a good friend recognized the immense potential of his land, inspiring him to cultivate special varieties and to take the leap into the Cup of Excellence.

Guided by this life-changing advice, Juan de Dios transformed his farm, upgrading its infrastructure and planting the Geisha variety, a bean celebrated globally for its exceptional quality and sensory profile. Over ten years of focusing on specialty coffee taught him that his farm's privileged altitude was the geographical blessing behind his extraordinary cup profiles. The journey has not been without hardships, especially the growing scarcity of skilled labor needed for selective harvesting. Yet, his perseverance blossomed: on his third attempt at the competition, Juan de Dios proudly entered the winners' circle for the first time in the Honduras Exótica category with a breathtaking Geisha lot. For him, this triumph is a deeply beautiful and emotional experience that validates years of tireless effort. Filled with pride over this great achievement, his eyes are set firmly on the future: to perfect his processes, improve every single day, and continue growing as a force in specialty coffee.
