Agricola San Agustin, S.A. De C.V.

"The ongoing search for excellence in quality started in the middle of the 19th century, when Mr. Antonio Jose Alfaro acquired a parcel of property near the village of Ataco.

Later, his son, Mr. Agustin Alfaro, founder of the Salvadorean National Coffee Company, continued the tradition by constantly seeking to improve his farm and mill.

He mastered an understanding of the crop, and established his ALPHA brand as one of the finest Strictly High Grown coffees exported from El Salvador.

With the continued effort of Mr. Antonio Alfaro, head of the third generation of this coffee family, El Carmen became a symbol of the village, Ataco, now characterized by the beauty of its ancestral farm, the quality of its coffee, and by the help and support given by the Alfaro family to the village and its people.

The fourth generation of the Alfaro family represents the new wave of modernization and globalization that vibrates throughout El Salvador.”

The family's efforts have evolved into an agro-industrial business under the name Agricola San Agustin, in memory of their legendary grandfather that is dedicated to producing, processing and exporting coffee excellence.

Their traditional brand has become ALPHA PREMIUM, and is now exported as their finest Gourmet Coffee.

Committed to the concept of exceptional quality, the family has diversified and is now producing some of the finest ornamental products, exporting them to the most demanding markets in the world.

“El Carmen is located 4,300 feet above sea level in one of the finest Strictly High Grown coffee production areas of Central American.

100% Bourbon variety, handpicked cherry by cherry at perfect ripeness.”

De-pulped the same day as harvested, processed separately, and kept unblended from any other beans.

Naturally fermented at mountain temperatures, then washed with pure spring water, and sun dried on clay patios.

Parchment coffee is stored in wooden silos, left to ‘test’ for a minimum of 60 days under ideal conditions to reach uniform humidity and color."
