Our family-run coffee farm is nestled in the highlands of Pang
Khon Village, Chiang Rai, at an altitude of approximately
1,200–1,400 meters above sea level. This region is recognized
as one of the premier Arabica coffee-growing origins in Northern
Thailand. Our journey began with our parents, who pioneered the
cultivation of the Arabica Catimor variety on these mountains more
than 40 years ago.
Today, as the second generation, we have stepped in to build upon
our parents' legacy. Rather than replacing the existing trees with
new varieties, our family chose to honor what we already have. We
focus heavily on developing our original Catimor crops, elevating
them to the rank of Specialty Coffee through dedication, continuous
learning, and rigorous process refinement. This transition to the
second generation has driven advancements across multiple fronts.
Our ultimate goal is to maximize the potential of our existing
variety while fostering a deep understanding of the value of coffee
at the farm level. We aim to produce high-quality coffee while
carefully preserving the forest and mountain ecosystems that our
farm calls home.
Over the past few years, we began entering our coffee into national
competitions as a platform for learning and quality assessment,
starting with the Cup of Excellence (COE) Thailand in 2022. For the
Ma family, participating in these competitions is not merely about
winning; it is a competition against ourselves to ensure our coffee
gets better with every passing year.
