Finca Ocoxotla
Gustavo Adolfo Tapia Vazquez

Gustavo Tapia, a second-generation coffee producer, redefined
his family’s legacy during the pandemic by transforming a
former cattle ranch into Finca Ocoxotla, pioneering some of the
first Anacafe 14 plantings in Veracruz. The surrounding environment
is a dense, humid cloud forest.
The farm thrives in an exceptional microclimate where coffee
plants are seamlessly integrated among ancient, towering trees.
Mastering the variables of this high-altitude, moisture-rich
terroir to maintain consistent quality has been their greatest
challenge, yet it is precisely what gives their coffee its
distinctive profile.
The operational success of Ocoxotla relies on a tight,
uncompromising core team: Gustavo, his son Rafael, and their
trusted lead operator, Toño. Their processing protocol is
highly controlled. Cherries are harvested exclusively at peak
ripeness and undergo a meticulous fermentation protocol. The coffee
is then completely washed to strip the mucilage and carefully dried
until it reaches the precise moisture parameters for optimal
storage.
This lot is a calculated execution of a proven formula. The Cup of
Excellence fundamentally elevated their operational standards, and
this year’s submission represents their relentless drive to
replicate that success and cement their reputation among global
specialty community.
