I am a third-generation coffee producer leading Finca Limonar. Our farm’s name carries a simple, geographic truth—it was inspired by a small lemon grove located very close to the property. This estate was planted with a singular, clear objective: to honor the legacy of my grandfather and my father by doing things the right way, continuing our deep-rooted family tradition, and offering a truly exceptional specialty product. My father previously found success in the Cup of Excellence, and this new plot was intentionally designed to follow in those footsteps and compete at the absolute highest level of global quality.
We are a completely family-driven project. We involve ourselves personally in every single stage of the cycle—from the initial planting, soil fertilization, weeding, and foliar treatments, to the final harvesting, processing, and drying phases. Our farm benefits tremendously from its high altitude, a balanced temperate climate, and a vibrant local biodiversity of fauna. Driven by market demands and a curiosity to innovate, we decided to plant a beautiful new variety that had been showing incredible cup quality and potential. We took a chance on this cultivar, and fortunately, our meticulous labor has paid off beautifully, proving that hard work always yields fruit sooner or later.
Preparing a competition-level lot requires an uncompromising level of care. Our family works with great effort, but above all, with immense affection to ensure the coffee meets the strict standards demanded by the Cup of Excellence. This means rigorously managing moisture conditions during drying, sorting only the absolute best grains, and discarding anything that isn't in pristine condition. Seeing this project culminate with a spot in the auction makes us incredibly proud and happy. This recognition serves as a powerful validation of our hard work and fuels our passion to keep pushing the boundaries of specialty coffee.
