FAZENDA ÁGUA LIMPA

OSVALDINA ALVES DUTRA

8_

Fazendas Dutra, with the emblematic Fazenda Água Limpa, embody a family legacy of more than 70 years dedicated to producing regenerative organic coffees of excellence in the mountains of Matas de Minas. Since the 1950s, this group of small farms has been managed with passion and deep expertise by the Dutra family. Today, the third generation leads the operation, with the fourth already actively involved.
Female strength is a vital pillar at Fazendas Dutra, present in every stage of production. Matriarch Osvaldina Alves Dutra is an inspiring figure, whose vast experience in cultivating high-quality organic coffees continues to shape the family’s path. The fourth generation, represented by her granddaughters Victoria (24) and Maria Clara (18), brings a modern and innovative perspective. This synergy between the matriarch’s tradition and the granddaughters’ forward-looking vision drives the family enterprise’s ongoing success and evolution.
The organic Geisha coffee, a highlight in the 2025 Cup of Excellence (COE), represents the pinnacle of a meticulous and artisanal production process. It begins with organic cultivation in naturally enriched mountain soils at high altitudes. The harvest is strictly manual, ensuring that only perfectly ripe cherries are selected. The post-harvest includes an experimental aerobic fermentation process, designed to enhance the sensory attributes of the variety. Drying is done carefully under the sun on raised beds, preserving the intrinsic quality of the beans.
Aligned with this philosophy, the farm employs organic, regenerative, and fully sustainable practices throughout its entire production cycle, holding both national and international certifications: Orgânico Brasil, NOP, EU Organic, JAS, KOC, ROC, Rainforest Alliance, FairTrade USA, 4C, and Certifica Minas.
