FAZENDA ÁGUA LIMPA

OSVALDINA ALVES DUTRA

3

Fazendas Dutra, with the emblematic Água Limpa Farm, embody a family legacy of over 70 years in producing exceptional regenerative organic coffees in the mountains of Matas de Minas. Since the 1950s, this group of small farms has been managed with passion and deep expertise by the Dutra family. Today, management is firmly in the hands of the third generation, with the fourth already actively involved.

Female strength is a vital pillar at Fazendas Dutra, present throughout every stage of production. The matriarch, Osvaldina Alves Dutra, is an inspiring figure with vast experience in cultivating high-quality organic coffees. The fourth generation is represented by her granddaughters, Victoria and Maria Clara, who bring a modern and innovative perspective. Victoria Dutra, 24, and Maria Clara, 18, embody the synergy between the matriarch’s tradition and the forward-looking vision of the new generation — a driving force behind the family’s continued success and evolution.

The organic Kent coffee, featured in the 2025 Cup of Excellence, represents the pinnacle of a meticulous, artisanal production process. It all begins with organic cultivation in naturally nourished mountain soils. Harvesting is strictly manual, ensuring that only cherries at their optimal ripeness are selected. Post-harvest, the coffee undergoes a honey process, a wet method designed to highlight the variety’s sensory attributes. Drying is carefully carried out under the sun on raised beds, a method that preserves the beans’ intrinsic quality to the fullest.

Aligned with this vision, the farm implements organic, regenerative, and fully sustainable practices throughout its production cycle, holding both national and international certifications: Orgânico Brasil, NOP, EU Organic, JAS, KOC, ROC, Rainforest Alliance, FairTrade USA, 4C, and Certifica Minas.
