For 36-year-old Miguel Ruis, coffee is more than a crop—it
is his life’s inheritance. Growing up, he watched his father
build a future for their family through coffee, slowly absorbing
the secrets of the land. Twelve years ago, he began his own journey
on a low-altitude plot, but his vision was set on the heights of
specialty coffee. Taking a bold risk, he moved his work to higher
ground in search of true excellence.
After eight years of relentless work, Miguel set his sights on the
prestigious Cup of Excellence. His consistency paid off, and today
he proudly celebrates two years of ranking among the best. Despite
the ups and downs of the trade, Miguel’s resilience is
powered by the daily dedication he and his family pour into their
soil.
What sets the grain of Finca Los Primos apart is a rigorous,
human-centered standard: a meticulous selection process that
harvests only the ripest cherries. Nestled in the mountainous area
of Santa Bárbara, his farm is blessed by a unique
microclimate and forest cover, which imbue the coffee with its
distinct character. Looking ahead, Miguel’s goal is simple
yet ambitious: to keep evolving, renewing his crops, and elevating
the name of his region to the world.
